NO LIMITS WHEN YOU RAID THE CASH MACHINE! PARTYPOKER.COM’S SPECIAL ATM OPENS IN SEPTEMBER!

August 24, 2009

Gibraltar – 24 August 2009 — The countdown is on to the www.PartyPoker.com fantastic new September promotion – there are no limits when you raid the Cash Machine!

The ‘Cash Machine’ runs from 0000 ET on September 1st until 23.59 on the 28th September. The premise is simple – the Cash Machine will convert PartyPoints into hard cash!

To get the amazing unlimited cash reward, a player has to earn 10 or more PartyPoints on at least 10 days during the promotion. At the end of the promotion, PartyPoker.com will look at the PartyPoints collected by every player on their 10 highest-earning days, then match the number of points you accumulated on the lowest of those days with a cash reward of $1 for every point earned.

A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “The Cash Machine opens next week. What is great about this exciting promotion is that every new day of the promotion gives players the chance to top their current lowest total and increase the cash prize.”

How the Cash Machine Works

If a player earns the following points on their10 highest-earning days:

Days one to three: 100 points per day

Days four to seven: 175 points per day

Days eight to ten: 150 points per day

The lowest daily points total in this period is 100, which means PartyPoker.com put in a $100 cash reward directly into a player’s Party Account.

There are up to 28 qualifying days and the cash machine bonus is only limited by the number of points earned: if a player’s lowest day’s points total is 1,000 points, PartyPoker.com gives you $1,000.

The minimum payout from this very special ATM is $10. If a player gets more than one point on 10 qualifying days but not up to 10 points to qualify for the minimum cash reward – they will be entered into the $25,000 Cash Machine freeroll, which takes place at 12:00 ET on Saturday, 3rd October. To partake in the freeroll freeroll players still have to accumulate at least one point on 10 qualifying days during the promotion.

VIVE LA FRANCE! PKR QUALIFIER TURNS US$5 INTO OVER $HK3,000,000! ADRIEN ALLAIN WINS 2009 ASIAN POKER TOUR MACAU MAIN EVENT

August 23, 2009

Macau – 23rd August 2009 – 23-year-old Adrien Allain from Rennes, France, is the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival Main Event Champion! He scooped HK$3,035,000 – a fantastic return on his investment of US$5 through an online satellite on PKR!

Allain, who recently turned professional said: “I’m overwhelmed, this is so wonderful. I qualified for this tournament through a $5 lottery tournament on PKR and end up beating all these top players. Vive La France!”

Allain, known by many as ‘zlatan35’ online, now aims to use the winnings as a bankroll to push forward his poker career. He impressively dominated the final table that included the likes of Poker Pack star JC Tran, Casey Kastle and David Steicke. No mean feat when this is your first major event and your biggest previous win is online and US$8,000! The runner-up was Inwook Choi from Korea. Choi got his money in with the best hand after pushing with AQ but Allain spiked a 3 on the flop and his A3 was enough to take the title. That said – Allain had been like a train since the first card was dealt and had Choi dominated 2,182,000/1,078,000 at the heads-up stage.

As Asian Poker Tour CEO Chris Parker expressed his congratulations, Adrien’s delighted group of supporters waved French flags in celebration as the Asian Poker Tour closing ceremony at the Starworld Hotel and Casino drew to its customary colourful conclusion. The crowd of supporters grew throughout the afternoon after the now legendary Asian Poker Tour Macau Party in the Presidential Suite the night before.

There were five small stacks on the final table and after shuffle up and deal was called by the world’s leading tournament director Matt Savage, the action was fast and furious. First out was Casey Kastle, who departed after the third hand on his third consecutive Asian Poker Tour final table appearance! He was followed very shortly by Winifred Yu, who came to the Starworld Hotel and Casino as a member of the crew for Chinese poker language film ‘Poker King’ and left with a HK$26,112 final table payout.

Christer Hallberg was next to exit, followed by Michael Woo. By this point Allain was making all the play and could do no wrong and had built himself a significant chip lead. In the background, dangermen JC Tran and David Steicke were lurking but the young Frenchman’s stack was continuing to tower. Next to go and out in fifth was Chris Chau, followed by Steicke – whose fourth place finish caps a memorable Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival for him which saw him also take down the Poker Pack High Rollers event.

What followed was a long session of small ball poker with Allain continuing to dominate, Inwook Choi holding up well and poker superstar JC Tran seriously short stacked but fighting back. In the end Inwook Choi’s queen high straight saw off Tran’s challenge, much to the disappointment of the large group of Poker Pack supporters on the rail. It has been a fantastic 12 day festival for The Poker Pack. Tran won The Poker Pack headhunter event and Korea, featuring Steve Sung, David Chino’ Rheem and Brandon Wong, won the inaugural JBET Battle of the Nations event. Quinn Do took down ‘The Poker King Movie’ Celebrity Charity event, while David ‘Chino’ Rheem won the HKGC  No Limit Hold ‘em R+A side event.

JC said “It has been a great 12 day festival for The Poker Pack – it is disappointing not to take down the Main Event but congratulations to Alain, he played good poker and is a deserving champion. To take down such a major tournament for just $5 is quite something – there’s no doubt he has great potential.”

Full details on all the hands can be found at: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2009-apt-macau/

Day 1B marked the start of filming of ‘Poker King,’ the first Chinese language poker film. Many, including the legendary Johnny Chan, predict the movie could have the ‘Rounders’ effect on the growth of poker in Asia. Five of the crew entered the Main Event with Hong Kong’s Winfred Yu making the final table! It would be fair to say that Poker King nearly had its own Poker King!

There was an encouragingly large regional contingent taking part in the event, with over 50% of the Day1A field from Asia. There were also plenty of well known names at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino including ‘The Poker Pack,’ John Juanda, Johnny Chan, Liz Lieu, James Akenhead of the WSOP Main Event November Nine, the in-form Stewart Scott, David Chiu, Ian Frazer, Praz Bansi, JP Kelly, Young Phan, Amnon Filippi, Casey Kastle, Steve Yea, David Steicke, Cecilia Nordenstam, Liv Boeree, Mel Judah, Karl Mahrenholz and Kim Wooka. Chan, Frazer, Scott and Wooka were amongst those that cashed. Last year’s champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko was also in attendance and failed to cash in the Main Event.

Tournament Director Matt Savage confirmed that there were a total of 326 runners, 133 on Day 1A and 193 on Day 1B. The total prize pool was HK$10,919,040 with first place HK$3,035,000. The buy-in for the Main Event was set at HK$34,400.  Last year’s event attracted 257 runners.

The Asian Poker Tour Macau hosted over 20 events with 15 official side events. Amongst the online networks which sent players were The Ongame Network, the iPoker Network and PartyPoker.com. In addition, online rooms BWin, PKR, Dafa Poker, JBET Poker, Betfriends, 888.com, Titan Poker, RedKings, 32Red, ChiliPoker, Winamax, BetSafe, PafPoker, The Asia Poker, JPL and PokerLoco are in on the action which guaranteed the significant online qualifier contingent. POKER DEN RAKE RACE WINNER JOINS THE PARTYPOKER.COM RANKS PALLADIUM ELITE MEMBER BODO SBRZESNY JOINS GRASSROOTS TEAM

August 11, 2009

Gibraltar – 11th August 2009 — http://www.partypoker.com/ is pleased to announce the latest signing to its grassroots team that rewards VIPs, customer loyalty and historic links to the leading online poker room. 29-year-old Palladium Elite http://www.palladiumlounge.com/ player Bodo Sbrzesny from Bruchsal, Germany, joins France’s Remy Biechel, Brazil’s Felipe Ramos, the UK’s Ian Frazer and the legendary Mike Sexton in the ranks.

Bodo is a former semi-professional tennis player and professional video gamer who made his mark on the live circuit in September last year with an appearance in the PartyPoker.com Poker Den: The Big Game III. Bodo won a rake race online to sit down with $20,000 against some of the world’s best live players in the lively 36-hour televised cash game. Far from being intimidated, Bodo more than doubled his buy-in when he left the game and memorably bluffed Roland De Wolfe and Barny Boatman with seven deuce off-suit and then showed his cards. At the time Jesse May exclaimed excitedly in the commentary box that ‘a new star is born.’

Predominantly an online player and coach, and well known in the big games on PartyPoker.com, Bodo transferred the skills he learned travelling the world playing the tactical first person ‘Counter Strike’ video game. Many will remember Bodo from his ‘Miamivice79’ and ‘LoveToWin79’ screen names on PartyPoker.com but now he will be playing under ‘Bodo_Feels_It’.

“I am really happy to have got a deal, said Bodo. “I have always been loyal to Party and I’m thrilled I get to play in big live events around the world with it. The chance to feature in many of Party’s big televised events was also very attractive to me. I really have little experience playing live – I’ve stuck to playing online and started by playing limit online four years ago.

The tactics learned as a Counter Strike video gaming professional helped form the foundation for my poker skills. I learned how to focus my game and improve my skills. The mouse and keyboard handling skills are particularly good for multi-tabling,” he added.

PartyPoker.com is now sponsoring players as it seeks to create a grassroots team. The emphasis is on VIPs, player loyalty and historic links to PartyPoker.com. More members of the team will be announced in the near future and more details on the team concept will follow as the team is shaped.

A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “After Bodo won the online cash game rake race last year and caused such a stir in The Poker Den he was an obvious choice to bring on board. The sponsored player and grassroots team initiative will continue to grow with all VIPs reviewed for suitability. We have seen growth in VIPs coming back to Party since our launch of the new software and continued huge strides in the VIP programme and launch of the new PartyPoints Store.”

Chan said: “Poker King has the potential to be much, much bigger than Rounders ever was. Say there are over one billion Chinese speaking people in the world and compare this to the US and their 300 million people you can see that this could be huge. Rounders gave poker a new lease of life in the western world – this could kick start a new poker boom in Asia.”

“I had a fantastic time filming Rounders back in the 90s – a big part of my involvement was behind the scenes where I helped teach Matt Damon, Edward Norton and John Malkovich how to play poker. I also played myself in the film and to this day it gives me recognition in the mainstream outside of poker circles. The film had a huge impact on poker and gave it a new lease of life. In fact, I was recently talking to Chris Moneymaker who is credited by many as being a catalyst for the poker boom in the west and he said without the influence of Rounders he wouldn’t have even have tried to qualify for the WSOP Main Event that he won! People got turned on by it and I can see this happening with Poker King in the Chinese language world.”

“I don’t see myself as an actor, I play myself – it is good for the mainstream to see real poker players. I am looking forward to going to the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival – it is great to meet new faces and catch up with old friends at an event in a city where the game is on the up.”

‘Poker King’ tells the story of two bitter poker rivals competing for world championship glory. The cast will be all-star, A list Chinese actors and pop stars with a cinema release across the region set for later this year.  Actors with the coveted starring roles include Louis Koo, Sean Lau Ching –Wan, Stephy Tang, Cherrie In and Josie Ho. There have been several famous gaming films in the region, most notably the 1989 Chinese language classic ‘God of Gambler’s’ starring Chow-Yun-Fat which spawned dozens of spin-offs – but ‘Poker King’ is set to be the first release that focuses on poker.

The Asian Poker Tour Macau is a hotbed for the world’s top poker professionals and negotiations are ongoing about giving the Tour’s sponsored ambassadors ‘The Poker Pack’ significant roles in the film. The Pack includes recent World Series of Poker bracelet winners JC Tran and Steve Sung, as well as Quinn Do, Nam Le, David ‘Chino’ Rheem and Kwang Soo Lee. Together, they are amongst the most feared players on the world circuit.

The Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival will run from August 12–23, 2009 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau.  Last year, the event attracted some of the most famous names in the game. Poker legend Doyle Brunson was one of those that attended and said:  “I thought Las Vegas was the gambling capital of the world but I was wrong, it feels like coming home.” The Main Event was won by 20-year-old US hotshot Yevgeniy Timoshenko, who scooped US$500,000 after emerging triumphant from the star-studded field that featured players from over 40 countries. Timoshenko has gone on to become one of the hottest talents in the game after taking down the WPT Championship earlier this year.

THE ASIAN POKER TOUR OPEN LETTER TO MICHAEL PHELPS IS THE NEWLY REJUVENATED HUMAN DOLPHIN REALLY A FISH?

August 5, 2009

Manila, Philippines – 5th August 2009 – The countdown is on to the The Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival which will run from August 12–23, 2009 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau. Last year’s six day event has doubled in size and will be transformed into a record breaking 12 day extravaganza and the event will form the backdrop to a potentially groundbreaking Chinese language poker film provisionally titled ‘Poker King’. We are pleading with human dolphin Michael Phelps to show us some love and have written him an open letter:

Dear Michael,

They say a week is a long time in politics and I’m sure you’ll agree that a year is a long time when you are a world beating Olympics legend. It looks now looks like that you are back to your best and congratulations on the new world record. Last year, we noticed that you had told your local paper that you were a poker buff and since then you have played in small tournaments at Caesars Palace in Vegas and been around and about on the circuit. In fact, lots of poker players claim you’re their friend but whether that is them using their famous bluffing skills is a different matter!

Last year you were in Beijing for the Olympics and we encouraged you to head down to the Asian Poker Tour Macau event at the Starworld. We heard positive noises but there was no sign of the human dolphin when they called ‘shuffle up and deal.’ We would like to extend this invite once again to you to come, all expenses paid, and take part in this showpiece poker event. The Main Event is in Macau between the 20 – 23rd August but the 12 day festival of poker starts on August 12th so let us know!

Forget the controversy about suit changes in your sport, concentrate on these suits: spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts!  Forget your rivalry with Milorand Cavic, how about a heads-up game with the legendary Johnny Chan or modern day poker icon JC Tran? We know you couldn’t make the meeting with the Pope but how about a meeting of poker minds in Macau?

Some media reports even suggest that you may have got in with the wrong crowd in the last 12 months – we promise to keep you out of trouble. We’ll give you access to pools of sharks, fish and those that you swim in! If you don’t want to bring your goggles, fair enough, bring a pair of sunglasses and your poker face! While you are at it, you could ask a certain poker playing President by the name of Barack Hussein Obama II if he fancies joining you!

The question remains is the newly rejuvenated human dolphin really a fish? We hope to find out!

Best Wishes
