Januar 31, 2010

Gibraltar – 29th January 2010 — PartyGaming has hired former cricketer, turned TV presenter and reality TV star, Phil Tufnell as its first celebrity ambassador to help boost its http://www.partycasino.com/ brand’s cross-gender appeal.

Tufnell, a former England cricketer and ‘King of the Jungle’ from ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ will front a television, press and outdoor campaign for PartyCasino.com that will highlight the range of casino games available on the site. The advertisements will be seen for the first time on Channel 4 in the UK during Celebrity Big Brother tonight. The campaign was created by Leeds based agency home.

You can watch the ads online at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhzJHf0-Gcs

Tufnell, known to many as ‘The Cat,’ said: “I had a lot of fun making the ads. I’m hoping this is the start of a long relationship with PartyGaming. I have advertised PartyCasino.com but I am also a keen poker player so have huge interest in sister site PartyPoker.com.”

“I understand Shane Warne is Down Under playing in a big poker tournament at the moment, wish I was there to take him on! He may have been able to turn a ball further than me but I can certainly turn a card better and if I don’t at least I’ve got my own hair! Warney’s the only player who can lose his chips and his hair at the poker table!”

PartyPoker.com signed professional poker player Tony G last week and he is currently Down Under seeking out Warne and looking to give him a present from Phil Tufnell. ON YOUR BIKE! PARTYPOKER.COM’S AUSSIE MILLIONS MILLIONAIRE FACTORY! ONLINE QUALIFIERS TAKE FIRST AND SECOND FOR OVER AUD$3,000,000!

Januar 30, 2010

Gibraltar – 30th January 2010 – http://www.partypoker.com/ has even more reasons to celebrate this week after two of their online qualifiers finished in first and second place in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. 23-year-old Tyron Krost, from Bondi, Sydney scooped first place and a stunning AUD$2,000,000, while Frederik Jensen, a 27-year-old from Copenhagen finished runner-up for AUD$1,100,100. The two online qualifiers dominated a final table that included star names such as Annette Obrestad and Sorel Mizzi.

Krost currently works in his family owned office furniture business in Sydney but now looks to be part of the furniture of the world poker circuit after his amazing win. He recently graduated after studying psychology and finance, both excellent skills for poker.

Sipping champagne with his large supporting contingent Krost said: “This is totally unbelievable – it is beyond my wildest dreams. If it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up! In total I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to turn that into AUD$2,000,000! I got some really good spots on the final table. When I needed a hand I seemed to get it.”

“It just hasn’t sunk in at all how much money I have just won. I have no idea what I am going to with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this.” One person who was also ecstatic was his girlfriend Carly, who was cheering him on from the rail.

749 players, including 43 PartyPoker.com online qualifiers, took part in the southern hemisphere’s premier poker event this week and one of those players, poker superstar Gus Hansen fell victim to Krost. “Gus knocked me out of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event and then I knocked him out in this tournament. Bit spooky that,” added Krost.

Krost’s win means that the Aussie Millions Main Event title stays in Australia and the PartyPoker.com camp for the second year running. Last year’s champion and Team Party member Stewart Scott was amongst the first to pass on congratulations. “I’m delighted for Tyron and I can honestly say I know what he is feeling like right now – it takes your breath away.”

Team Party’s latest signing Tony G was also delighted: “PartyPoker are on a roll. Our players are starting to dominate – it is bike time for the rest!”

Krost had been taking counsel from Tony G before the final table but doesn’t intend to adopt one of the Australian poker idols habits: “I will not be knocking people out and getting them to ride a bike. I will leave that to him!”

Tyron was full of praise for the runner-up and fellow online qualifier Frederik Jensen. “I have to say well played to Frederik. He is an excellent player. It is fantastic that when it came to heads-up there were just two PartyPoker qualifiers left.”

Januar 27, 2010

Gibraltar – 27th January 2010 – http://www.partypoker.com/ and Matchroom Sport are delighted to announce that the final invitation for PartyPoker.com Premier League IV has gone to a certain Mr Doyle Brunson. Additionally, http://www.pokernews.com has been added as a presenting sponsor and will be providing their expert live updates from the tournament.

The Main Event runs from the 12th – 18th February 2010. Ten time WSOP bracelet winner Brunson joins the dream ten line-up that also includes David Benyamine, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Phil Hellmuth, JC Tran, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Roland de Wolfe, Luke Schwartz and the newest member of Team Party, Tony G.

Brunson is very happy to be onboard: “”I’m happy to have the challenge of playing against all these great players. I know a lot about many of them but, of course, all the young players from the internet are very aggressive good players. It is impossible to make a favorite to win this because every player in this field is capable of winning. I feel I have as good a chance as anyone,” said Doyle.

Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Sport said: “It’s an honour that Doyle has accepted his invitation to the Premier League. He is a true legend of the game and I’m so excited to watch him in action against such an eclectic mix of players. The Premier League has become the world’s number one televised poker event and it’s by far the strongest line up the event has ever seen.”

Matthew Parvis, Editor in Chief of PokerNews.com said: “We are extremely excited to be a sponsor for the PartyPoker.com Premier League IV. Not only is the format one of the most exciting, but the line-up is second to none. There is no other poker tournament where you can see the best of the best battling it out on the felt, and since we consider ourselves among the best in the poker business as well its only natural to be involved with such a fantastic event.”

This leaves just two spots to be filled. One will go to an online qualifier, while the other place will go to the winner of a mini Premier League play-off between members of Team Party. Taking part will be Poker Hall of Fame inductee Mike Sexton, the UK’s Ian Frazer, France’s Remy Biechel, Brazil’s Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos and Germany’s Bodo Sbrzesny. A special invitation into the Team Party shoot-out has been given to Dragan Galic, a German pro with Croatian roots who was recently nominated for European Player of the Year and is commonly regarded as one of the best and in-form players on the European circuit.

This year PartyPoker.com ran qualifiers to find a total of 16 players who all fly out to Las Vegas to play in a Premier League Poker play-off to see which one of the 16 will be lucky enough to join 11 professional players in Premier League Poker IV. The lucky online qualifiers will play a short series of play-off sit & go’s in Las Vegas and the eventual winner will win a $100,000 buy-in to take part in the main Premier League event! Both the play-off and the main event will be filmed for TV and shown across the world. One amazing element of this promotion that provides a truly fantastic opportunity is that one of the 16 qualifiers will be chosen by PartyPoker to receive a $100,000 Team Party contract to be a sponsored player. More information on this can be found at http://www.partypoker.com/news/items/premier_league.html

JC Tran won PartyPoker.com Premier League III after taking down the most formidable final table in the event’s history! Tran, widely regarded as one of the finest and consistent tournament professionals on the circuit scooped the $300,000 first prize in the elite tournament that saw 12 of the world’s finest players battle it out for a $1.25 million prize pool! Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, Juha Helppi, Tony G, Roland de Wolfe and Peter Eastgate all made the final table.

This year’s Premier League will carry a total prize pool of $1.5 million ($300,000 added by PartyPoker.com). Premier League II was won by Andy Black and the inaugural event was taken down by Juha Helppi. The PartyPoker.com Premier League is organized by Matchroom Sport and will be presented by Team Party member Kara Scott.

In 2010 I’m looking to play lots of tournaments and to start it off with a victory in one of poker’s most prestigious events is top of my list right now,” said David.

Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Sport said: “”We are delighted to welcome David into the PartyPoker.com Premier League for the first time. We now only have one invite left in this year’s event and an announcement will be made within the next few days.”

Benyamine is predominantly known for his high stakes cash game play but has taken down two WPT titles, including the 2003 Grand Prix De Paris, and is the proud owner of a WSOP bracelet. At the same time, it has been announced that ‘The Mouth From Down Under’ will take part in the eagerly awaited PartyPoker.com Premier League IV in Las Vegas in February and that the assets of http://www.tonygpoker.com/ have been acquired by PartyGaming.

Antanas Guoga, more commonly known as Tony G, is a businessman and respected professional poker player known for his entertaining outlandish table talk and aggressive play. Undoubtedly one of the biggest characters and hottest box office in the game today, Tony won the WPT Bad Boys of Poker II in 2006 and famously finished runner-up in the 2006 PartyPoker Intercontinental Poker Championship in Las Vegas. Tony has cashed 15 times at the World Series of Poker and historically won the inaugural Asian Poker Tour event in Singapore in 2006, giving half of his prize money to charity. Known for his extraordinarily big heart and philanthropy, Tony also generously donated the $205,000 he won at a big tournament in Moscow in November 2007 to local orphanages. Tony has accumulated over $4,000,000 in live tournament winnings.

“I cannot wait to start playing for Team Party on the circuit,” said Tony. “I’ve always loved Party and what better way to kick off than at the Aussie Millions. I am also really excited about the Premier League in February – it is the best event in poker in my eyes. After finishing runner-up and third in the last two years the title has to be mine! I just hope my rivals have the heart and commitment to the game to stop me!” Tony joins a line-up that also includes Phil Hellmuth, JC Tran, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Luke ‘FullFlush’ Schwartz and Roland De Wolfe.

First of all though I will ride it out myself – I know when it is bike time!”

Tony’s landmark personal player deal incorporates live tournament buy-ins to events around the world. He will also be playing online under the screen name ‘TonyG’ and has already sparked plenty of debate with his presence at the cash game tables. Tony G joins Team Party alongside Mike Sexton, Kara Scott, Ian Frazer, Bodo Sbrzesny, Remy Biechel, Stewart Scott and Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos.

The acquisition of the assets of TonyGPoker.com sees all TonyGPoker.com players migrate to http://www.noblepoker.com. TonyGPoker.com is a well known online poker room with an extensive selection of games, tournaments, freerolls and promotions. As part of the deal, Tony will continue to run the Sunday Bike Ride, a popular bounty promotion, at NoblePoker.com, which is owned by PartyGaming.

One amazing element of this promotion that provides a truly fantastic opportunity is that one of the 16 qualifiers will be chosen by PartyPoker to receive a $100,000 Team Party contract to be a sponsored player.

Triple Crown winner Roland De Wolfe is the latest player to receive an invite into PartyPoker.com Premier League IV. He joins defending champion JC Tran, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Phil Hellmuth for the 12 player $100,000 buy-in main event.

De Wolfe was the first player to win both a WPT and EPT and last year became the second player in history to do the Triple Crown when he added a WSOP bracelet to his portfolio. Roland has a rich Premier League history with many remembering how he tried to secure his place at the final table in season two after what looked like a comfortable run in the league stages. The final heat of this stage saw Roland need just one point to win an automatic place at the final table and he adopted a very conservative style only to bust out with zero points. This meant de Wolfe had to play in a heads-up match with Eddy Scharf for a place at the final table that had seemed almost guaranteed. He won the match and went on to the final table and scooped $125,000 for finishing runner up to Andy Black. In Premier League III, Roland made the final table again but finished fifth.

De Wolfe said: “The Premier League to me is one of the best events in poker and I cannot wait for it to get underway. I have made the final table in the last two events – now is the time to take it down. Whatever happens, I’m going to do my best and am certainly not afraid to put on a show.”
