DATES CONFIMRED FOR PARTYPOKER WORLD OPEN VI QUALIFY ONLINE FOR INAUGURAL WPT LONDON POKER CLASSIC

Gibraltar – 28^th July 2010 – http://www.partypoker.com/ and Matchroom Sport are pleased to announce details of the PartyPoker.com World Open VI! The Matchroom Sport organised 48 runner event will take place from Monday 6th September – Friday 10th September 2010 in London. For the second year running the action will take place at the prestigious Palm Beach Casino in the heart of Mayfair. This time the tournament, which guarantees global televised coverage for its participants, takes place right off the back of the inaugural WPT London Poker Classic, which runs at the same casino from the 29^th August – 5^th September.

Following changes introduced last year the starting stacks remain tripled, with eight seater heats and seven players in the final. The buy-in is $10,000, with a total prize pool of $480,000 – the winner scooping $200,000. Team PartyPoker.com will be out in force. Leading the field is Mike Sexton, who made the final table last year as well as Tony G, Dragan Galic, Tyron Krost, Felipe Ramos, Ian Frazer and Giovanni Safina, who won a pro contract after finishing third in the last Premier League.

Amongst the early confirmations for the event include defending champion Phil Laak. Joining him are the likes of Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Dave ‘The Devilfish’ Ulliott, JP Kelly, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, Roland de Wolfe, James Akenhead, Neil Channing, Praz Bansi, Luke Schwartz, Jennifer Tilly and the  ‘winner’ from the recent Big Game David ‘Viffer’ Peat.  In 2009 Laak emerged triumphant from a final table that also featured Mike Sexton, Andy Black, Luke Schwartz, Bodo Sbrzesny, Austrian online qualifier Jan Veit and Jennifer Tilly.

Phil Laak said; “Last year was a wild roller coaster ride. This year I am looking forward to coming back to defend my title – it is ideal that it comes straight off the back off the WPT London Poker Classic – hopefully I can win both!”

Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Sport said: “London is the place to be for poker in the next few months and the PartyPoker.com World Open will feature the strongest line-up the capital will see. Once again the tournament will boast its triple-stack format giving fans across the world the chance to see the world’s leading players in full flow.”

Commentary will be provided by Jesse May and the action will be first broadcast on Five in the UK later this year and then distributed internationally. The action will be presented by Team PartyPoker.com’s Kara Scott. Spectators are welcome to come down to the Palm Beach Casino and watch the action.

There is no online qualifier element to the PartyPoker.com World Open VI but qualifiers are still online for the WPT London Poker Classic – the first EVER WPT event in London. Full House multi-table tournaments run from 1^st – 30th August. The MTT series will use a new mechanic based around players earning just one point on three days during a week! Should players hit this target they will receive entry into a weekly $10,000 tournament – players who qualify for two or more weekly freerolls will win a place in the grand final on the 30^th August with a $100,000 prize pool. The $50,000 Full House Cash Game Race runs from 2^nd – 22^nd August. Only players who are bronze, silver or gold level loyalty members are eligible to participate. Points earned on cash games will be tracked on a leaderboard that is updated every hour. The top 500 finishers at the end of the promotional period will receive anywhere from $10 to $3,000. The race winner gets the top prize of $3,000, and the top seven finishers will all receive at least $1,000. The top 200 finishers will receive at least $100.

The Full House Sit & Go Jackpots are for sit-and-go specialists and up to $160,000 is up for grabs. If a customer wins five single table tournaments in a row they will win a jackpot worth $10,000 to $50,000 depending on the buy-in level. There is one $50,000 gold jackpot available for single table tournaments with a buy in of $55+, three silver jackpots worth $20,000 each for tournaments with buy-ins of $12 to $54 and five bronze level jackpots worth $10,000 each for tournaments with buy-ins between $3 and $11.

LAS VEGAS, NV (JULY 9, 2010) – At the conclusion of the World Poker Tour ® (WPT) press conference beginning on Saturday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellagio Hotel’s Monet I Ballroom, WPT will present a World Cup prop bet with more than just national pride on the line.

Spain’s Carlos Mortensen will play a heads-up match against Marcel Luske of the Netherlands less than a day before the World Cup final game between each player’s respective home country. The loser will wear the soccer jersey of the winning player’s country as they watch the World Cup final together on Sunday morning prior to the start of Bellagio Cup VI. To add insult to injury, the loser will also have to keep the winner’s jersey on throughout Day 1.

The action can be seen live via Ustream through a dedicated link that will be posted on WorldPokerTour.com prior to the press conference. Updates will be on Twitter throughout the contest and video highlights will be available on YouTube.com and on WPT’s website at the conclusion of the match.
