TOP GAMING EXECUTIVES RAISE THE STAKES FOR GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY

August 12, 2010

In an industry first, a wide number of companies from the gaming world have joined forces to drive an initiative galvanising support from across the industry to raise much needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Chaired by Richard Glynn, Chief Executive of Ladbrokes plc, this group will meet together for the first time at an exclusive poker dinner with well known figures from the entertainment and sporting world; the ‘Raising the Stakes Inaugural Founders’ Evening’ in The Red Room at Les Ambassadeurs Club on Thursday 30 September 2010.

Speaking of his commitment to the cause, Richard Glynn says:

“Having stepped down recently after 10 years as a Special Trustee of this great institution, I am proud to be chairing the Raising the Stakes appeal and working with some outstanding individuals and companies from across the gambling and gaming industry.

“Great Ormond Street is a remarkable institution and I hope this new initiative will have a real impact on the lives of thousands of children who are treated at the hospital each year.”

Building on the international gaming industry’s proud tradition of philanthropy, Raising the Stakes is a new and innovative fundraising venture which will unite the industry to make a true and tangible difference.  The initiative aims to raise an initial £500,000 for a new high dependency bay in the Hospital’s Cardiac Critical Care Unit which will provide life saving care for young patients.
